Irma Joy Lasiter James age 77 of Monticello, AR went to be with the Lord Saturday, August 29th, 2026 at her home. She was born March 17th, 1949 in Wilmar, AR to the late Howard Lasiter and Mary Johns Lasiter. Also preceding her in death are brothers Marvin Lasiter, Ben Lasiter and Charles Lasiter.
Irma was a graduate of the Wilmar school system, worked for the Arkansas Department of Health as a dedicated state employee for 37 years of service to her community. She was an active member of the Second Baptist Church in Monticello, AR. Irma enjoyed spending her time taking care of her loved ones therefore, she was very respected among her family, friends and community for her love and compassion for others. Where as Irma had many titles, the very best was mom. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her family and where she always displayed warmth, compassion and love to everyone.
If something needed attention, share that with her and that “Mission would be accomplished” Irma took great pride in her appearance being a pretty lady, inside and out. Her nickname was (Fashion Police) was given to her as she always had a dress code in order.
She gracefully preserved and accepted her role in life as they changed over the course of her life. Always marching forward and always could find something good in everything. Irma had lots of treasures tucked deep in her head. She was gifted for brightening your day and always lit up the room when she walked in, sharing love and laughter with everyone. She was never a selfish person; she was a very generous and warm hearted soul. (Be kind to one another). She was a loving devoted wife, mother and true friend to many. “Her children would rise up and call her blessed, her husband also praised her. Proverbs. Anyone who had the opportunity to meet and get to know her, admired and respected her love for life. Always when she talked about grandchildren and great-grandkids she referred to them as her LOVE LOVES. She was always easy to love and to share precious time together. She made a house and home.
Irma is preceded by her spouse, Alvin James, whom she was married to for 57 years.
She is survived by her daughter Shawn James Harrison and spouse Bobby, White Hall, AR; her son Cody James and spouse Layne, Monticello, AR; her precious grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Daisey Anna and spouse Bo, Gracie Rebekah and spouse Harry Anthony, Bobby, Knox and Amri, and her great-grandkids Rebekah, Raven, Bo Jr, Harry Jr, Andrew, Boston and Saul.
Funeral services will be 4:00PM Tuesday, September 1st, 2026 at Second Baptist Church in Monticello, AR. Burial in Union Ridge Cemetery by Frazer’s. The family will receive guests after the committal service at Union Ridge Cemetery.
