KINGSLAND — Community leaders, volunteers and supporters gathered Saturday, July 18, for a groundbreaking ceremony marking the beginning of construction on the future Kingsland Amphitheater.
The amphitheater is planned as a community gathering place capable of hosting concerts, festivals, school performances and other local events. Organizers said the project represents an investment in Kingsland’s families, quality of life and future growth.
The groundbreaking followed extensive planning, fundraising and volunteer work by Kickstart Kingsland and other community supporters. Organizers thanked those who have donated money, contributed their time or encouraged the project as it developed from an idea into a construction effort.
Among those participating in the ceremony were Kingsland Mayor and Kickstart Kingsland Executive Director Samantha Johnson, Cleveland County Judge Don Triplett and Kingsland City Council members Linda Burns, Lee Penister and Suny Blair.
Kickstart Kingsland representatives included President Shannon Raney, Vice President Shannon Watt, Secretary Lauren Watt, Treasurer Denise Broughton and committee members Vickie Beverage and Mary Ann Franklin.
Paul Abeyta, operations manager for Kickstart Kingsland and head of construction for the amphitheater, also participated alongside Paul Abeyta Sr. and Bubba Golden, who are involved in building the facility.
Organizers said the ceremony was only the beginning and that the community will be invited to return for a grand opening once construction is completed.
The project is intended to provide Kingsland with a permanent venue where residents and visitors can gather for entertainment, celebrations and community activities for years to come.
