TreeHouse Warren will return Tuesday, Aug. 18, at the Donald W. Reynolds YMCA of Warren and Bradley County, offering local teenagers a free weekly program focused on support, mentoring and building healthy relationships.
The program is open to teens ages 12 to 18 and will meet on Tuesdays from 6 to 8 p.m.
TreeHouse describes itself as a grace-based, safe environment designed to help teens build resiliency, develop healthy relationships, strengthen their sense of personal value and prepare for the future.
Founded in 1985, TreeHouse has grown to serve more than 3,000 teens at 40 sites across seven states. The program uses mentoring, peer support and group activities to help young people develop coping skills and navigate challenges they may encounter.
TreeHouse Warren offers three primary components:
Support Groups are small, facilitator-led peer groups of six to eight teens. Participants are given an opportunity to talk about their week, connect with others through conversation and encourage one another.
Connect Groups combine teaching with interactive activities aimed at helping teens build confidence, recognize their value and strengthen their sense of self-worth.
Mentoring matches individual teens with mentors who can provide support and guidance as participants work through life challenges and apply lessons learned through the program.
There is no cost to participate, and no advance registration is required. Drop-ins are welcome.
Dinner is provided during the program, and transportation is available for participants within the Warren city limits.
