WARREN, Ark. — Warren Fire Chief Chuck Moore is urging residents to use extra caution with fireworks as Independence Day celebrations approach, warning that dry conditions can quickly turn a small spark into a dangerous fire.
“It’s dry and getting drier,” Moore said.
The Warren Fire Department encourages anyone planning to celebrate with fireworks to take precautions before lighting them. Moore said residents should have a water hose hooked up and ready in case a fire starts.
He also urged people not to wait to call for help if a fire does occur.
“Do not hesitate to call the Fire Department,” Moore said. “We would rather get there and your fire already be out than us get there and it be too late.”
With July 4 falling during a period of increasingly dry weather, residents are encouraged to keep fireworks away from dry grass, brush, vehicles and homes, and to closely supervise children during celebrations.
